What is Hearts and
Soles?
Hearts & Soles is a
group program designed to encourage daily physical activity and
improved nutrition. The program is based on the popular "10,000
Steps" walking program.
Daily Activity (Walking) Can:
- Reduce stress
- Improve sleep
- Strengthen bones & lowers risk osteoparosis
risk
- Reduce elevated cholesterol levels
- Contribute to weight loss
* Preventing obesity
* Preventing type 2 diabetes
Does this sound
difficult?
- ULTIMATE GOAL: 10,000 daily
steps
What are you doing right now?
Wear the pedometer for a few days to find
out.
- Add only 500 daily steps per week
* 500 steps = 1/4 mile
* 10,000 steps - 5 miles
Do
you like other physical activity?
- Swimming, bicycling, gardening, skiing?
- We convert each 30 minutes to 2,500 steps.
What if you
don't get to 10,000 daily steps?
You are successful
if you increase your daily activity, regardless of how many steps,
miles, or hours that proves to be!
Improve your
nutrition knowledge!
Learn how to:
- Read food labels.
- Portion and serving - what's the difference?
Do you understand
the food pyramid?
Is your
group interested?
