This program provides free dental care for
low income, uninsured children throughout Bucks County.
Lack of access to dental care for low-income children
was the highest priority need identified by the 1994 health assessment
that was instrumental in the formation of BCHIP. We
found that thousands of Bucks County children were not receiving
dental care due to lack of income and insurance. In response to
this need, BCHIP established the Children's Dental Program, a network
of 31 dentists to provide dental care for uninsured children through
age 18. These dentists provide office-based preventive and
restorative dental care to eligible children.
Since 1998, the BCHIP Children's Dental Program
has provided no cost dental treatment to 1,085 children.
