As a partner with the Bucks County Tobacco Control Program, BCHIP's Tobacco Control Program provides:
Education for healthcare providers, especially hospital and clinic staff in "nicotine dependence treatment"
Patient and community education focused on specific chronic illnesses associated with tobacco use and tobacco smoke pollution
Smoking Cessation Programs, with special emphasis on low-income, underserved clinic patients
Using the American Lung Association's curriculum, Freedom From Smoking, smoking cessation classes meet on a regular schedule at
each hospital throughout the county. This seven-session program utilizes tobacco education, behavior modification, peer group support and fun to assist participants to quit smoking.
BCHIP provides
scholarships to assure that all residents, including low-income patients, have ample opportunity to participate in smoking cessation programs.
